Hm. Perhaps things got crossed. At any rate, Arlo, who I do not know, invited me to Court’s birthday party with other people I do not know. And he was very friendly in conversation and enthusiastic about the time I spent in the Prescott bunkhouse. This is unprecedented in my experience.

Are you sure you aren’t in love with Emmett Yes. And you’ve had a recent string of good luck. But still I worry.

Neither. The social rules dictating how aldermen should relate to their mayor are more cognizable to me than the rules about how friendships are made and maintained.
